Shooting Drills
In basketball, there are many shooting drills that players can use to improve their shooting ability. These drills are designed to increase the number of quality shots a player can make and can help them learn to shoot under pressure.
One important skill a player should develop is the ability to use the backboard. This is crucial because it helps you avoid a blocked shot and also gives you more touch. Using the backboard is also useful in games because it gives you a better chance of scoring when the ball is in the air.
Another important shooting skill that a player should develop is the ability to properly shoot off the dribble. This is done by having a consistent release point and getting into the shot motion with fluidity.
The most common mistake that a player can make when trying to shoot off the dribble is bringing the ball too far back. This can be fixed by making a simple adjustment to your shot.
A good way to practice this is by lining up and shooting at the free throw line. You can then have the coach walk around and make corrections to each group of players individually.
